Genetic Philosophy

Grandma always said "a man is only as good as his genetic expression".

This page was a work in progress with many brain dumps and paragraphs out of order. I am going to republish this page after I complete it. Among the new ideas you will read here are the "Grouping Effect", "Multiple-Goal Breeding", and a notation system for accurately defining a breeding system.

Pigeon and Dove Breeding

One of the greatest breeding challenges ever attempted has been the development of a new strain of pigeon which occupies all three divisions of the domestic pigeon world; Utility income, Fancy show qualities, and Performance flying skills. Traits for which breeding stock is selected include circling ability at the point of release, smaller sizes, tamer, beauty traits, fertility, and vocalization.

White Dove Breeders

Several white dove breeders are now making breeding selections to develop better ceremonial traits. They often meet to discuss breeding and selection techniques in forums such as Yahoo's ReleaseDuvs forum.
