The Draft
The opportunity to partake in "The Draft" was an important perk for joining the
Ceremony Dove™ Service breeding community. The Draft closed at the end of 2004. In the fall, after the breeding
season was over, breeders visited each others' loft to select new breeding
stock. Each breeder was allowed to exempt their choice of 12 birds
from the draft and place them in separate quarters. Fellow
breeders were allowed to select a bird from the remaining stock.
All trades must be mutual. If a breeder cannot give up a bird,
they cannot take one. Also, each breeders' out-cross loft is
exempt from the draft.
