Overall Impression:
Small, dainty & elegant. On the ground they appear elegant and flowing like a wedding bride. All features from head
to tail tend toward round, soft, and feminine. Wings are held low,
below the tail, but seem to become part of the tail. Both wing and
tail nearly brush the floor. The head is round with large eyes and
a friendly face. The beak is small and thin, with very little
wattle. It projects horizontal to the floor and points straight
ahead like that of a song bird. The legs are short as if hidden by
a long gown.
Body Form and Station:
Head held high. Wings held low and wide like a
wedding gown. The tips of the wings fall below the tail. Flights and tail nearly brush the ground. Wings smoothly flow
into the low fan shaped tail and seem to become part of it.
Size:
Very Small. The ideal size is eight ounces.
Color and Markings:
Color Classes:
- White – All feathers must be white. Beaks and
toenails must be colorless.
- Patterned – Head, neck and breast must be
white. Wings, back, tail, and rump must be colored. Beaks and
toenails must be dark. Breast has a small tuft which may be
colored.
- White with dark beak and toenails
- Black - no other color or marking
- Red - Barless
- Blue - Barless
- Any other color or pattern
Show & Fly Classes:
In addition to the color classes, birds shall be entered
as "show only" or "show & fly". "Best of Show" awards are limited to
show & fly.Feathering
Ornamental feathers of various types may be adopted in the standard.
Grouse legs should be considered for the White class.
Serious Show Faults:
Lacking color on beak or toenails when color is
required. Significant color in the wrong places. Size too big. Plucked feathers or bare spots.
Future Classes:
It is expected that future Release Duvs will gain various styles of
crests, tufts, frills and leg feathers. While the fanciers can debate
the various merits of each, the features which would contradict the
goals of this breed and therefore should be avoided include feathers on
the feet that are longer than the toes or cover the toenails, head
dressing which covers the face and eyes, and overly soft feathers or
other features which would interfere with flying.
